What is there to do in North Devon?
If you have never been to North Devon before then you are in for a treat. More rugged, wilder and quieter than South Devon, the North coast offers a wonderful mix of Exmoor and some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe.
Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands are stunning sandy beaches perfect for families to run and play and for surfers (of all abilities) to ride the waves.
Surf boards, wetsuits and all the gear can be rented from one of the many surf schools at any of these beaches.
Rocky beaches with great rock pooling can be found at Ilfracombe, Combe Martin and Lynmouth.
Exmoor offers wonderful walking (with the chance to see the famous Exmoor ponies).
If you would like something more organised for a family day out then Arlington Court (National Trust) is only a few minutes away as are the Combe Martin Dinosaur Park, Exmoor Zoo and Watermouth Castle.
Horse riding is available locally and there are golf courses in Ilfracombe, Saunton and Barnstaple.
Cycling along the traffic free Tarka Trail which runs from Barnstaple to Braunton and Bideford is also very popular and bikes can be hired at several stages along the route.
This is a really dog friendly area with loads of walking and dogs welcomed onto several beaches as well as practically all pubs and cafes.
Each of our cottages has a full range of information about places to go and things to do so that, whatever the weather, you will have a great time here.
